With only 10 days until Northstar California opens their ski hill for the 2013-2014 winter season, excitement is building at the resort and throughout the North Lake Tahoe area. Consistent with previous years, Vail Resorts has continued to make improvements on the mountain including new gondola cars for the Big Springs Gondola and further tree grooming through the Promised Land corridor, just to name a few. In addition, to changes occurring on the mountain, there have been additions, upgrades and changes in The Village at Northstar that you should be aware of heading into this ski season. They include the following:
Icebreaker comes to The Village at Northstar – If you are not already familiar, Icebreaker is a New Zealand adventure apparel company that pioneered the use of merino wool. The brand has store location around the world and now they will be in The Village, located on the upper level close to the entrance from the Guest Drop-Off. Stay warm on the hill this winter with the help of Icebreaker.
Ski /Snowboard Rental Shop Has Moved – Northstar Sports Village Rentals previously had two locations in a two step process for renting equipment. You would rent from one location and then pick up the equipment at another. Well, no more. Located at the end of Copper Lane (lower level of The Village) right before the stairs up to the Gondola building, the rental store has been renovated and outfitted to accommodate the entire rental process in one location.
Overnight Storage in Big Springs Gondola Building – The space previously used for rental equipment pick up will now be utilize for overnight storage spaces.
Ticket Sales in Big Springs Gondola Building – You can now purchase you tickets right at The Big Springs Gondola! This will save you from having to go to the Season Pass office located by the ice rink in order to purchase your tickets.
Lost & Found Consolidate at Security Office – Instead of several separate Lost & Found locations, there will now only be ONE Lost & Found located in the Security office at the bottom of The Village. So, if you lose something, no matter if you are on the hill or at a restaurant in The Village, there will be only one place to collect your lost items.
Burton Academy Location in The Village at Northstar – Right next door to the Adventure, Guiding & Learning center and Season Pass Office, there is now a Burton Academy location. Customers of the Burton Academy will come here to check in for their lessons. The academy is a a first-of-its-kind learning program designed to welcome new riders to the sport, encourage the progression of those already in the sport, and provide a customized experience built around an entirely new terrain-based teaching methodology.
