Coming up on Saturday, 6.28, is the Western States 100-Mile Endurance Run. This ultramarathon begins at 5:00 a.m. at the base of Squaw Valley, and concludes in Auburn, where participants must reach the finish line no later than 10:59:59 a.m. on Sunday, 6.29 in order to be eligible for awards. The Western States 100 has been held annually since 1974, and is truly a test of human endurance. Runners this weekend will climb over 18,000 feet of vertical terrain as they traverse Emigrant Pass, the Granite Chief Wilderness, and other rugged mountain trails. Yesterday, the Tahoe Mountain Resorts team had the pleasure of learning about the adventures and challenges of ultramarathon training and competition from runner and coach Ian Sharman, an outstanding athlete who has finished in the top 10 of the Western States 100 for the past four years.

We hope you’ll join us in cheering on Sharman this weekend!
