Greetings –

As I am sitting in Coffee Bar this morning writing my weekly update I can’t help but be proud of the town Truckee has become.  As friendly faces walk through the door we share greetings and of course talk about the beautiful fall weather, mountain biking, and hopes of a big upcoming winter.  It makes me proud to be a resident in this tight knit community and I understand the reason why so many people are making the move to raise their families here whether it be full time, or on the weekends and holidays as second home owners.

As I was driving along the Truckee River and through the Martis Valley to my office in Northstar yesterday I was thinking about how far the town has come in the last 10 years and how much fun growth is on the horizon.  Living in the Truckee/Tahoe area is like living in a National park with a International airport 45 minutes away, emerging food scene and unlimited recreation potential in every direction you look.  Listed below are just a few pieces to the puzzle that are currently transforming this mountain town into a vibrant community with incredible soul.

Truckee Trails: Truckee Trails Foundation is dedicated to building and maintaining sustainable trails on and off road throughout our community for a better way of life.  Below you will find a picture of the paved trail going from town to Northstar.  Roller skiers are loving preparing for the upcoming cross country ski season.

Truckee Aquatics Center: This 10 lap competition and warm water recreation pool is slated for completion in September of 2016.  The roof is currently going on so they can work all winter long to deliver this much anticipated amenity to the town and its people.

Truckee Railyard: This is one major piece of the puzzle to give Truckee a complete identity among the likes of Park City, UT, Boulder, CO and those types of communities that epitomize urban mountain living.  The plan is to break ground on major infrastructure this fall and create this mixed-use walk-able destination with movie theater, grocery store, retail, restaurants and condo style living to transform Truckee’s downtown commercial row into a true village experience.

EVENTS:
As evidenced by our growing town, the Truckee Haunted Historic Tour is sold out.  They raised over $22,000 for the Trails & Vistas Art in Nature Field Trips for local Truckee/Tahoe third grade students.  If you did not get tickets this year make sure to mark the calendar for next October as this is a fun dive into Truckee’s Wild West roots with a Spooky Twist.

If you have the little ones in Truckee this weekend be sure to swing by the Pumpkin Patch at Truckee Elementary (11911 Donner Pass Rd) between 10-2:00  for the outdoor pumpkin festival.

PICK OF THE WEEK:
My pick of the week is a townhome located at Gray’s Crossing that will be coming to market shortly.  With the lack of inventory in the under $1M price point, this property packed with amenities should see swift activity.  Located within walking distance of the Gray’s fitness center and PJ’s restaurant, this townhome has one of the best locations with it’s proximity to bike trails to downtown and a short drive to lake recreation and numerous ski areas of your choice.  This property offers difficult to find unobstructed views of nature and golf course without looking into other townhomes or developments.  With great east to southern exposure the golf course location is hard to beat.  In the winter the golf course feels like a wide open expanse backing to snow covered forest land.  Below is a photo from the living room.  Call or email for more details as this is coming to market soon.  Below are a few images of the townhome:
