Autumn Equinox 2017 came to Tahoe in classic fashion, gracing all elevations with a nice blanket of snow this past Thursday! My son was one of the first to get out there for some early powder turns in the front yard as I think it’s safe to say that Tahoe is ready for the big switch!
While early snowfall is not a true indicator of how strong the winter will be, all signs are pointing to another great season here in the mountains. And as the leaves are just beginning to change colors, now is a great time to get up here and enjoy fall in the mountains.
Whether it’s trying to squeeze the last moments of boating on Lake Tahoe, hiking, biking, playing golf, or just breathing the crispy cold mountain air into your nose… nothing is more refreshing than the changing of the seasons. I personally love to ride my bike, as the trails are free of crowds and conditions are all time! Here’s a video of a ride on Thursday with my dogs, through a hailstorm, just before the blizzard.
We talk frequently about the concept of Utility Value and this month, I have continued to learn about the true meaning of the word. While i swear that my 2 year old was just born the other day, I am in awe as to how he is growning up and embracing the arrival of his baby sister two weeks ago today. I keep trying to remind my wife and myself that we have to take a deep breath and to sit back enjoy these precious moments, as soon they will be off to live their own lives. The best thing we can do is teach them as much as we can, and provide them with as many amazing memories from their childhood as possible.
As time is flying by with your endless cycles of parenting and work, and you find yourself hesitating with fulfilling your dream of owning property in Tahoe… STOP! While there may always be a better time in the market to purchase or sell property, one thing will remain constant… time will continue to press on and while you keep waiting…you could be missing opportunities to create memories with your family! just remember that when your kids are all grown up, and are passing your love for the mountains down to their kids… that you have done your job!

September’s market activity has paralleled the heavy downpours and snowfalls to the region as 141 Single Family/Condo/Townhome properties have sold in the Truckee/Tahoe area with 64 more pending.
An obvious shift towards winter-centric product is evidenced by Northstar’s 7 properties having sold already this month with 7 more pending.
