The golf clubs are dusted off and the mountain bike is tuned, but with skiing still lingering on my mind I’d like to share some very exciting news about Two Mountains and One Gondola. Squaw Valley and local landowner Troy Caldwell have announced an agreement to connect Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows via a high-speed detachable gondola- this will link up 6,000 acres of skiable terrain. The new gondola will be approximately 2 miles (an estimated 13 minute ride) transporting 1,400 skiers per hour. This is great news for the entire community throughout Truckee/Tahoe. As we all know, the “rising tide” raises all boats. With KSL Capital Partners at Squaw Valley/Alpine Meadows and Vail Resorts at Northstar Resort, the Tahoe region seems to be in great form for economic growth over the years to come. Additionally, Squaw Valley reports that they seek to ensure good stewardship of the surrounding alpine environment throughout the design and construction of this project by carefully executing the build while minimizing the overall footprint and potential visual impacts of the Squaw-Alpine Interconnect.
Real Estate Pick of the Week:
The exciting Squaw/Alpine news leads me to introducing a contemporary new home nestled into the Painted Rock community of Squaw Valley. With incredible views of the colorful Painted Rock cliff bands, and great southerly sun exposure, this 4 bed 3.5 bath at 3,493 sq. ft. absorbs families of all sizes. The exterior finishes provide the mountain feel you are seeking with a combination of cross-cut wood, Montana granite and low maintenance stucco. On the interior you will find a clean contemporary feel with a variety of surfaces including, granite, marble, new limestone composite and a variety of ceramic, stone and glass tile. A home of this magnitude would command upwards of $1,000/sq.ft. in Martis Camp, and with the trajectory that Squaw/Alpine is on $615/sq.ft. seems to be a good opportunity. Here is a link to the listing.
