We are about to enter the shoulder season here in Tahoe and now is the time to avoid crowds and pick up good deals on tickets, lodging and food.
After a fun day of adventures on the mountain or around town, pick up the local paper to find great deals for your evening plans.
My favorite restaurant pick for spring is Wolfdale’s in Tahoe City (note they will be closed for spring cleaning until May 1). This quaint little restaurant has been a locals favorite since 1978 serving an unconventional combination of of Asian and European culinary treats.
For those looking for a deal, from May 11-June 11 you may enjoy a table on the waters of Lake Tahoe and half priced dinner entrees at the West Shore Cafe in Tahoe City.
Or, cozy up to a window table hovering over the Truckee River at River Ranch Lodge and Restaurant located on HWY 89 at the base of Alpine Meadows. Sundays – Tuesdays this Spring they are offering 1/2 price entrees. Enjoy the 40 years of history that surrounds you as the river passes by. If you’re in the mood, stay the night in one of the 19 rooms located upstairs.
This is also a great time of year to treat your loved one to The Soule Domain in Crystal Bay. A cozy cabin-turned-restaurant is the perfect place to go, because this family run business welcomes you in as a part of the family. Charlie Soule (chef and owner) will treat your taste buds to a delicious night out.
Seeking a great happy hour? Locals’ favorite Pianeta Ristorante hosts a great happy hour at their bar from 5:00-6:30 pm Monday through Friday. Pianeta’s homemade pastas are worked into delicious Italian dishes complemented by an extensive wine list which includes selections from California and Italy.
Lastly, enjoy the outdoor seating and Truckee vibes at the new Truckee Tavern located in Historic Downtown Truckee. The cocktails are a work of art, with hand-chipped ice cubes in your whisky drink and fresh, local ingredients.
See you up in Tahoe for some good eats and great deals this Spring!
