While ultimately there is always a growing shift toward ski-centric property as we inch near winter, the one community that always seems to be relevant in all seasons is Old Greenwood.
The community is named after Caleb Greenwood, a western U.S. fur trapper and pioneer, who was originally born in Virginia in 1763. Greenwood guided several parties across the Sierra Nevada mountains, including one in which he completed one of the first overland wagon journeys to California via Walker Pass.
Greenwood, along with two of his sons, also directed another party through a new avenue bypassing the Truckee River Canyon, which became a main route of the California Trail. The Sublette-Greenwood Cutoff became the most frequently traveled route for people flocking west at the time of the California Gold Rush.
Today, Old Greenwood is a residential community comprised of 100 homesites, 38 fractional cabins, and 27 fractional townhomes nestled amid Ponderosa pines, surrounded by a signature Jack Nicklaus golf course, and within a short drive to Truckee, Lake Tahoe, and major Ski areas like Northstar, Squaw Valley, and Sugarbowl.
The hub of this amenity-rich community is Old Greenwood Pavilion, offering a kids’ discovery center, tennis, swimming and fitness facilities, a general store, a restaurant, and easy access to miles of biking and hiking trails. By joining the Tahoe Mountain Club with an initiation fee of $13,500 and a monthly payment of $500, you gain access to discount golf rates, and all Old Greenwood and Northstar amenities that the club includes.
Old Greenwood is the perfect four season base camp for your family and all things Tahoe. We, Tahoe Mountain Realty once the original developer sales team under East West Partners, continue to be the market experts for the community.
