This weekend on Saturday, September 22nd, Squaw Valley will be hosting its legendary annual Oktoberfest Celebration. A lively Bavarian celebration with food, beer, competitions and entertainment throughout the day is not to be missed. Those who attend can expect a fun-filled day with the ability to participate in free events such as a keg rolling competition, the “Brat Toss” and the “Stein Holding Competition”. The celebration is not all about beer. There are Brats, Bavarian pretzels, rootbeer floats and authentic cheese breads by “A Taste of Switzerland”. Entertainment will be provided by Joe Smiell’s 20 Piece Bavarian Band for the course of the celebration, and performances featuring the Almenrausch Schuhplatter Dance Troop will take place throughout the day.
Whether in town for a fall visit or looking for a stay-cation day, Oktoberfest will transport people to an age old gathering centered around fun. Lederhosen are encouraged. Entry is free for all ages, and for those drinking beer, a $20 donation will get you a commemorative stein and 2 beer tickets. Proceeds benefit the High Sierra Lacrosse Foundation.
