When you think about Tahoe, what do you see? It seems like most people either think of the winter time and skiing or summertime with long warm days on the lake. However, spring is an amazing time in Tahoe; the crowds a lighter, the sun is out longer, and outdoor events begin popping up all over the area. Here’s a few ideas to maximize your enjoyment when staying in Tahoe:

Lakes & Reservoirs
A great alternative to the main lake are the local reservoirs; Boca, Prosser, and Stampede. A quick 30 minute drive west or north of Truckee can get you access to some beautiful, pristine alpine lakes such as Independence, Weber, Fordyce, and Spaulding. Camping grounds, great fishing, calm waters and tree lined beaches.

Hiking and Biking
Tahoe consists of 850K acres of public land. This makes for a seemingly endless supply of hiking and biking trials. With trails for all ages and experience levels, there’s no excuse to get out there and get some fresh Tahoe air. New this Summer is Big Chief Trail, located off the Southwest tip of Sawtooth trail in Truckee.

Golf
The Truckee-Tahoe area is home to some of the most epic golf courses in country. From high end courses like to Old Greenwood and Gray’s Crossing, to more low key public courses like Ponderosa and Tahoe Donner, there’s a course for every budget and skill level. As an average golfer (at best), I consider any day on the course a great day. See below for a handful of May opening days.
