Summer riding season arrives in Truckee as the Northstar Bike Park kicks off its highly anticipated opening weekend on Friday, June 12. Known for its progression-friendly terrain, expansive trail network, and lift-served access, Northstar Bike Park once again sets the tone for mountain biking in the Sierra with a full slate of opening celebrations.

Lifts begin spinning at 10 a.m. on Friday, welcoming riders back to one of the region’s most established lift-access bike parks. To mark the start of the season, the first 250 riders will receive complimentary Bike Park swag, adding an extra layer of excitement to opening day tradition.

The celebration continues into Saturday with a full schedule of on-mountain programming designed to engage riders of all levels. The Northstar Bike School team will host free mini-clinics throughout the day, offering coaching and skills progression tips for those looking to sharpen their technique early in the season. In the afternoon, the energy shifts to friendly competition with a track stand contest, bringing a community-focused element to the weekend lineup.

Rounding out Saturday’s festivities, DJ Jon Hennion will be performing on the deck at The Lodge at Big Springs from 12–3 p.m., setting a lively soundtrack for riders and spectators gathering at the base area.

With lift access, summer weather, and a full schedule of opening weekend events, Northstar once again signals the official start of Tahoe’s bike season. For riders and families alike, opening weekend offers a blend of progression riding, community energy, and classic mountain resort atmosphere.
