The stars aligned this season at Mountainside as El Nino helped to deliver both amazing skiing conditions and big sales slopeside. 2016 quarter one sales exploded with Mountainside seeing $20 million in transaction activity in all phases after the greatly anticipated release of the Stellar Collection.

In addition to the two recorded sales, five pending transactions entered contract and are slated to close in early Quarter 2. This list is comprised of two Stellar Residences, one Stellar Townhome, one Trailside Townhome and one Ritz-Carlton Residence, with an average sale price to $2.6 million and $884/sq.ft.

I was able to chat this week with Ron Barnes, Chief Strategist behind Mountainside at Northstar to find out the inside scoop on their growing success.

“There is a growing demand for both contemporary mountain real estate, and the ability to easily access Tahoe’s outdoors in authentic ways. We are finding that families want to be able to step out their door and into adventures, whether it be guided by local experts or in discovery on their own.” Clearly this new generation of buyers, driven by adventure, want the luxury of ease and accessibility to the outdoors, with the sophisticated architecture that mirrors their technological lifestyle. For example, being able to plug in their electric car in the garage, while simultaneously allowing themselves to “unplug” from their world and enjoy the true meaning of life in the mountains.

Mountainside has an aggressive summer building program around amenities:

First on the docket will be the introduction of the Rendezvous Experience; three rustic cabins will be crafted in the woods among the towering Ponderosa Pines. United by a centrally located firepit, these huts will deliver a creative blend of contemporary architecture and luxury, while maintaining the adventure of camping in the woods.

Next, the new Yoga Studio is slated for an early August opening with indoor/outdoor yoga space set among rock outcroppings, trees and blue sky, while continued trail building will expand in excess of 40 miles, leading to exciting new amenities like the radical new multi-zoned playground, carved into the hillside, stretching over an acre.

And if those aren’t enough excitement for you, the Village House, a new private owner’s lounge in the heart of the village, is scheduled to open this summer as well!
