The abundance of activities continues as we reach the heart of summer, and there are a lot more to come. This week, I was fortunate enough to join my team on a morning boat cruise of Lake Tahoe aboard the Wild Goose II, which takes off out of North Tahoe Marina in Tahoe Vista. The Wild Goose II is a 36 foot commuter style mahogany Grand–Craft, and it looks like something out of a movie. As typical for Tahoe, the morning water was calm and glassy as we cruised the North Shore. I looked at the mountain tops surrounding the lake and imagined them caked in snow, dreaming about my many backcountry ski adventures that I long for all summer.
This is one of the best ways to experience Lake Tahoe, and there are several different packages you can book to cruise on the Wild Goose II. The most popular is a dinner cruise to the legendary Sunnyside or historic Chambers Landing, which allows you to take in the beauty of the West Shore and Emerald Bay.
There are plenty of activities taking place this weekend and I wanted to point out one in particular. My broker and good friend Jeff Brown will be participating in the Tahoe Rim Trail 100 Mile endurance run. This will be taking place on the East Shore of the Lake this Saturday, and the weather looks pleasant with possible thunder showers to hopefully help cool the racers down a little. It will be an incredible accomplishment just to complete the race – come on Brownie — we are rooting for you!
Market Update
After a successful grand opening of Tree House, the Mountainside community continues to shine with another Home Run townhome going into contract this week and pending at a price of $1,850,000. This leaves Home Run with just 3 residences left and only one 3 bedroom out of 16 total townhomes. Recently, the sales offices at Northstar in The Village and at the Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe have been very busy with prospects wanting to look at inventory and search for their dream property to use this winter. Northstar and the other resort communities will see plenty of showings during these peak summer days as the buyers will be narrowing down their focus to the property that best suites their needs. We will typically see a surge of offers in the fall as there is urgency to get into a property for Thanksgiving dinners and the upcoming ski season. If you find a property that is a good fit, I recommend getting ahead of the curve and making an offer – this should help keep you competing with the multiple offers and urgent buyers we see every fall.
Pick of the Week
Following the theme of the Lake, my pick this week is 4590 North Lake Boulevard- a 5 bed, 6.5 bath mountain home perched on the North Shore in Carnelian Bay. This lake home offers 2 buoys, a boat lift and a deep water pier. With panoramic lake and mountain views this is your quintessential estate on the water. Carnelian Bay is a great location as you can easily access the North Shore of the lake via highway 267 which typically sees less traffic during the holidays than highway 89 into Tahoe City. Additionally, this also gives you a location in the middle of Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, and Northstar Resort for multiple skiing/riding options during the winter. Click here to view this listing.
I hope to see you in town this weekend and don’t hesitate to call or email if you would like to tour any properties.
Best,
Shane Jones
