There are only a few weeks left to catch A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival happening at Sand Harbor State Park. This production directed by Charles Fee, which began July 12th, will continue to run Tuesday – Sunday evenings through August 25th. The “curtain” lifts at 7:30pm and tickets range from $15 to $80. If you have never been to a performance at Sand Harbor amphitheatre, this is an absolute “must do” for you. To watch a performance as renowned and timeless as a Shakespeare play with Lake Tahoe as the backdrop is truly breathtaking. It is fun and casual, yet sophisticated and culturally enriching. It is great because you can pack in a picnic and refreshments, or dine at one of the several vendors available at Sand Harbor. It is a wonderful evening for the whole family.
Even if you have seen A Midsummer’s Night’s Dream before, you will not want to miss this particular production. Adding a twist, Charles Fee has placed this classic tale in the setting of 1960’s London. As their website states, “Boldly inspired by the marvelously mod influences of a rock ‘n’ roll infused 1960s London, our production of Shakespeare’s comic masterpiece ensnares two pairs of lovers and a rustic troupe of would-be actors in a magical-mystery tour de force. An exhilarating night of midsummer madness, this magical comedy brims with mistaken identity, mismatched lovers and mischief-making fairies. ” This setting is supported with creative sets, fabulously authentic costumes, and an excellent cast of thespians.
