Summer is coming to a close, and Northstar is saying farewell to the season with an abundance of activities for all ages and interests. Friday Fun Nights at Northstar are a great way to maximize the last of Tahoe’s long, beautiful summer evenings. From 5-8 pm, the kids will stay busy with complimentary roller skating, balloon twisting, and face painting while you enjoy live music, margaritas and mini-golf, a chair massage, or perusing the great sales that the Village shops are offering. If you’re looking to be a bit more active before you unwind, head to the Kid’s Ski & Snowboard School at 5 pm for a guided hike. On Saturday, indulge in local cuisine and libations at the Wine Walk. From 3-6 pm sample a variety of food and wines from local purveyors. The cost is $30 and includes a commemorative glass. If beer is more your style, then you’ll want to hit up the Brew Walk from 3-6 pm on Sunday featuring tasty bites and micro brews for you enjoy. The $30 entrance includes a commemorative pint glass. Lastly, with the clear skies and pleasant temperatures, this Saturday will be the ideal time to attend one of the Tahoe Star Tours hosted at Northstar’s new Cosmoarium. Starting at 8:15 pm, this week is a Carl Sagan Tribute. Here is a link to the full Northstar Calendar of Events
Winter is only a few short months away, and there’s already an electricity in the air with the anticipation of our first snowfall. My homecoming yesterday was especially sweet as my 2.5 year old son greeted me at the door with this year’s first Backcountry Magazine featuring the latest ski technology. With that in mind, I consider the Blizzard Ski & Snowboard Tent Sale to be the highlight of the weekend! Gear up early with 30-70% off last year’s merchandise from a variety of brands including Burton, The North Face, Atomic, Patagonia, Technica, and more.
Lastly, be sure to stop by my open house this weekend, Saturday from 1-4:00pm, at 2009 Red Tail Court while you are enjoying the festivities at Northstar. Nestled amongst the trees in the prestigious Big Springs community of Northstar, this is Mountain Arts and Crafts architecture at it’s finest. Inspired by the Ahwahnee, this Dennis Zirbel designed home boasts four bedrooms, a great room with masonry fireplace, a loft and a separate recreation room. No expense was spared with hand crafted wood and iron work throughout, flamed granite flooring, hydronic heating and a gourmet kitchen ready to entertain family and friends. Located on a private cul-de-sac just one block from the Timberline chairlift, and a short drive to the Village, this retreat offers privacy and convenience with plenty of space to absorb families of all sizes.
