The time has finally arrived for the Ironman Lake Tahoe this Sunday, September 21st. The bike course has over 8,000 feet of climbing which is 3,000 more than Ironman France that takes place in the Alps. They are considering Tahoe the world’s toughest course as the race takes place at elevations between 6,000 and 7,200 feet. The race begins at 6:30 a.m. at the Kings Beach State Recreation Area with a 2.4 mile swim in the crystal blue waters of Tahoe. The competitors will make their way to Tahoe City and past Squaw Valley & down through the Truckee River corridor as they ride 112 miles of what the locals call ‘The Triangle.’ As the athletes ride through downtown Truckee they will make their way to Northstar and up and over Brockway Summit back into Kings Beach and over to Squaw where they will transition for the 26.2 mile marathon run. The race will end in Squaw Valley with the leaders shooting for a finish around 3:15pm. Good luck to all of the participants!
As for recent new in Tahoe real estate, the fall rush has arrived as we have seen 65 properties close escrow since September 1st. After a long summer of family fun and vacations, clients are writing offers and hoping to be in their vacation home for the upcoming holidays.
My real estate pick of the week is located on the 7th hole of the Schaffer’s Mill golf course. 10252 Valmont Trail is a 3 bed 3.5 bath 2,594 sq.ft. townhome and a great option in our market for someone looking for private golf, affordable amenities, and ease of living, all within a reasonable price point of $1,156,000. There have been 6 townhomes sold in Schaffer’s Mill YTD ranging in price from $937,000 to $1,080,500. The affordable amenities are making Schaffer’s Mill a popular community and they are currently building more phases of townhomes that incorporate the beautiful Mt. Rose Carson Range views.
Have a great weekend and I hope to see you up in Truckee/Tahoe for the IRONMAN festivities.
