Even if you are not a skier, there are plenty of fun and exciting activities to experience here at Northstar and throughout the Martis Valley. On the mountain you can enjoy snowshoeing, cross country skiing, ice skating in the village, shopping, and fine dining. You can also come enjoy the Ritz-Carlton spa, ranked in the top 100 resort spas in the United States.
Off the mountain you can explore the historic town of Truckee, a place that will forever be associated with the famous Donner Party. Once a wild west stop on the railroad and the entrance to the Sierras, Truckee now boasts an assortment of interesting shops and restaurants including Jackass Ridge, European Ski Antiques, the famous Hilltop Restaurant, and eclectic dining at Dragonfly. Still a whistle stop, as you stroll the streets of Truckee, you will undoubtedly encounter one of the many cargo or passenger trains barreling its way through the center of town. I can assure you that this is quite an exciting experience for the little ones!
If shopping and dining are not your cup of tea, you can enjoy a day of snowmobiling through the surrounding Sierras or work your way through some of the interesting saloons lining the main streets of town.
