6th Annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb

September 11, 2001, forever changed our nation. Nearly 3,000 people lost their lives in the terrorist attacks that day, including 343 firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice while responding to save others. Twenty-five years later, their lives and the events of that day remain etched in our collective memory, bringing communities across the country together each year in remembrance.

Here in Truckee, that spirit lives on through the 6th Annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb. On Friday, September 11, from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m., participants will gather at the staircase behind Tahoe Mountain Realty to take on a powerful challenge: climbing the equivalent of 110 flights of stairs, the height of one of the Twin Towers.

What began as a small gathering has grown into a community tradition. Each step serves as a tribute to the 343 firefighters who lost their lives while responding to the attacks of September 11, 2001, as well as the thousands of innocent people whose lives were taken that day. Whether you climb every flight or gather to support those taking part, being there is a meaningful way to remember and stand together.
