Fall Community Activities in Truckee

One of the things I love most about Truckee is the preservation of its rich history.  The town has done an amazing job at keeping the Historic Downtown area a relic of the past and passing local legends for generations.  If you’ve yet to delve into Truckee’s Wild West roots, you are able to do it with a spooky twist at the Historical Haunted Tour on October 17th and 18th.  During the walking tour, you will be guided to interesting sites where you will be immersed in engaging tales of the old days performed by actors portraying Truckee’s infamous characters of the past.  This entertaining evening benefits the Trails and Vistas nonprofit.  Tickets are $40 and more information can be found here.

Another one of my favorite annual events in Truckee that I enjoy taking my son to is Big Truck Day on October 25th, from 11am to 2pm at the Town Corporation Yard on Stockrest Springs Road.  If you’ve got a little one that loves fire trucks, tractors, police cars, helicopters, or any other mode of transportation, bring them for a fantastic adventure!  Kids are able to get in and explore all of the trucks and equipment on display.  My son’s personal favorite was the fire truck… I preferred the snow cats.  This is a free event and open to all ages.  Hope to see you there!
