Historically, Tahoe/Truckee Real Estate sales are sluggish in late October and early November and they typically stay that way until the spring when new inventory floods the market.
This past week we saw a decrease in sales activity compared to last, but are still ahead of the 2016 numbers. There was one condo sold this time last year at Northstar totaling $300,000 compared to five homes currently in escrow in the region we serve. The purchases were divided evenly amongst Northstar, Gray’s Crossing, Lahontan, Old Greenwood and Martis Camp neighborhoods. The total sales price for the five homes nearly breached $10M.
Every year it seems that the “shoulder season,” or slow months are staying busy as more people are drawn to the area perhaps because of the increased amenities, new businesses and prospective development, making the Tahoe/Truckee region a year round destination. These investments may be fueling the local economy as well as the real estate market.
