The brains behind these unique menu offerings is Sam Okamoto, a 27 year food industry veteran who worked as a restaurateur, columnist, author, cooking instructor, and nutrition expert. Simplicity is key in his cooking. Sam learned the art of sushi from his father, a well known sushi chef in Kokura, Kyushu Japan. “We only use the freshest and highest quality ingredients. Our dishes not only taste good, but are good for you. Many ingredients we use have positive health benefits.”
The mixologist at the Drunken Monkey offers imaginative specialty cocktails as well as a full menu of sake and Japanese style beer. “We offer a robust selection of sake, shochu, shochu infused cocktails, Japanese and micro brewed beer, and varietal wines to be paired with your meal, or sampled by themselves. “
Another unique aspect of the Drunken Monkey is their local handmade furniture. The Sushi bar, the Sake bar, and the dining area tables were all hand crafted by a local artisian with local lumber.
Don’t miss the opportunity to have great food in an interesting and unique atmosphere. If you are searching for Asian style cuisine while visiting the Truckee/Tahoe area, the Drunken Monkey will not disappoint!
