Carve Tahoe at Northstar

By January 28, 2014No Comments

Think “snowman” for the very talented and gifted adult artist.  Carve Tahoe is a sight that you will not want to miss.  You will be amazed at what can be created out of snow.  The sculpture pictured to the left is constructed in the Village and is a preview into what we will see this weekend.

Located in the valet parting lot in the lower village, eight 20 ton, 12′ blocks of snow are ready to be made into masterpieces.  The 8 teams from all over the world including Finland, Germany, Japan, The Netherlands, Czech Republic, Canada, and the US arrived on Monday to prepare.  Carving will begin today and last through Saturday morning.  Judging will take place at 9am Saturday morning but you cast your vote anytime with a few dollars.  The sculpture with the most money will win people’s choice award and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Humane Society of Tahoe Truckee.

The best time to come view the sculptures is Thursday – Saturday with a special viewing on Friday night from 3pm – 6pm when the sculptures will be lit up, music will be playing, and drinks will be available!
