RealtyTrac recently published their second annual list of America’s Best Ski Resort Towns for Real Estate Investing. This list is a compilation of 18 ski resort towns which ranked highest in seven categories created to measure which ski towns have the best real estate investment potentials. The criteria for evaluation included aspects such as annual home price appreciation, distance from the nearest airport, and “quality of ski resorts” nearby. For the second year in a row, Truckee has made this list. Northstar and Sugar Bowl were the resorts representative of Truckee for this report.
Given that we have an insider’s perspective, we’d like to add few more factors that we feel set Truckee and Northstar apart from other ski resort towns on the list:
– Northstar in the press – Northstar is a favorite on Ski Magazine’s annual list of the Top Ski Resorts in America, and thanks to Vail’s billion dollar investment, the resort is constantly improving and adding to the variety of services and recreational opportunities offered to guests
– The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe, found mid-mountain at Northstar, is the “first and only AAA Five Diamond mountain resort in California” and has been ranked among the world’s best hotels across multiple publications and years
– Mountainside Northstar is drawing lots of attention for being at the forefront of on-mountain living in Tahoe, and the current theme is that buyers are now more attracted to resort ownership over lakeside purchases (on/near Lake Tahoe).
