Agreement Announced to Secure the Preservation of Martis Valley Land

It was announced on Wednesday, that an agreement between Truckee area landowners, Sierra conservationists, and East West Partners has been made to create and pursue a conservation and development plan that will secure the permanent protection of 6,376 acres of land in Martis Valley. The agreement is the result of a partnership forged by East West Partners, Sierra Pacific Industries (the proposed land’s current owners), Mountain Area Preservation and Sierra Watch. This will be the largest parcel yet preserved in the Martis Valley if Placer County officials approve the deal.

As the result of a Martis Valley Community Plan that was approved in 3002, the relevant land, located on the northeast side of Highway 267, is currently slated for large-scale residential & commercial development. The agreement entails moving development to other SPI-owned land on the southwest side of the Highway in the greater Northstar Ski Resort area. This also includes reducing the future development by nearly half. This is a monumental step toward the preservation of this beautiful and historically significant area of North Lake Tahoe as well as the responsible growth and vibrancy of Northstar Ski Resort. East Wes Partners continues to show its dedication to smart and conscientious community planning and environmental preservation.
