There’s no better time for family fun than the winter holiday season. From sleigh rides, music and film festivals to arts & crafts and more, Tahoe provides exciting events and activities throughout the area all month long.

 

Here is what you need to know to make the most of your time in Tahoe:

Warren Miller’s Face of Winter presented by Volkswagen

Warren Miller Entertainment (WME) is ready to kick-off the season with its 69th installment ski and snowboard film, Face of Winter, presented by Volkswagen. The late, great Warren Miller built his legacy capturing the essence of winter magic, and today that legacy launches the start of the ski and snowboard season every year. In the 69th feature film, celebrate the man who became known as the face of winter throughout the industry, and the places and people he influenced along the way.

Tahoe City Holiday Hop

Kick off the holiday season in style at the Tahoe City Holiday Hop! Stroll and shop through our local stores to begin your holiday shopping while enjoying wine, snacks, good cheer, and festive surroundings at our one-of-a-kind, locally owned Tahoe City businesses.

Northstar Silent Nights

Grab some skates and a headset and tune into the movie being shown on the Village stage, or switch channels to holiday tunes as you ice skate under the stars. Head over to Mine Children’s Store to write letters to Santa and create your own ornament at the Village Candler Shop.

Northstar Noel Nights Tree Lighting Ceremony

Gather ‘round the outdoor ice skating rink and countdown to watch the 50 foot tree light up to kick-off the holiday season. Grab a horse-drawn sleigh ride, cheers with ooey gooey s’mores by the fire pits and get your picture taken with Santa. Cheers to the season!

Every Friday evening beginning November 30th through December 21st, The Village transforms into a winter wonderland featuring horse-drawn sleigh rides, outdoor ice skating, pictures with Santa and s’mores and hot cocoa by the fire pits. You’ll truly be “walkin’ in a winter wonderland”.

Tahoe Film Festival – SWEP’s 4th Annual

SWEP’s fourth annual environmental film festival, Tahoe Film Fest will present an important section of new and exciting environmental feature films that have been screened in various festivals throughout the world.

Tahoe Film Fest also celebrates a section of American Independent Films, New Films from Latin America and a Filmmaker Tribute.

Elves Workshop

We welcome children into the Elves Workshop! Here they will make gifts for their friends and family. While your children are hard at work, the adults are invited to shop for unique holiday gifts in our gift shop, and indulge in libations, food, coffee, and treats. There will also be a puppet play and story telling.

Come Hungry!  Enjoy seasonal soups, fresh breads, tea, coffee and treats.

Workshop Details: There will be six individual crafts for the children to make and you may choose to have them complete as many as you desire. Workshops are for children ages 4 and up.

The Twisted Nutcracker and the Tale of the Rat King

Truckee Dance Factory is celebrating the season at Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows with a modern and humorous twist on the timeless tradition of the Nutcracker!  A spectacular choreography of upbeat and passionate performances will thrill and amaze audiences in the lavishly decorated Merry Wonderland. This original production sold outlast year – don’t wait to get tickets.

Attendees are invited to participate in intermission entertainment for a chance to win a special prize from Santa! Hors’d’ouvres & bar service available.

Northstar Breakfast with Santa

Kids and kids-at-heart are invited to join Santa for an intimate breakfast to kick-off the week of Christmas festivities. In true Santa style, the kids can start the morning with some cookie decorating with help from the big man himself, while the adults can choose between either a complimentary Bloody Mary or Mimosa. Next, enjoy a delicious holiday spread for breakfast while Santa reads traditional Christmas stories. End the morning taking photos with Santa before heading out to the ice skating rink.

 

Dec 28 | 3-6pm
A Year of Giving Holiday Celebration

Join Tahoe Mountain Realty and Tahoe Mountain Resort Foundation for a Holiday Celebration. Bring your holiday cheer and let’s celebrate another year of giving, and a great upcoming winter season! Alibi Ale Works will be pouring a selection of Craft Beer, and Mountain Magic Catering will be serving a variety of tasty dishes in the Village at Northstar Sales Gallery.

Snowglobe Music Fest

The annual Snowglobe Music Fest will take place on the newly renovated Community Play Field on The Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) campus in South Lake Tahoe. Here, guests can enjoy electronic music amongst mountain vistas from December 29 through 31, 2017. Ticket information is available online at the official SnowGlobe website.

Northstar New Year’s Eve Celebration

Ring in the New Year at the best fireworks show in North Lake Tahoe! Celebrate with family and friends around the outdoor ice skating rink with live music, an ice bar and warm fire pits all night long.

 

Jan 3 | 7-10pm
Alpenglow Winter Film Series at Olympic Village Lodge

Back for its 13th year, the Alpenglow Winter Film Series will be showcasing the outdoor industry’s most respected athletes. Hear from these professionals as they share stories of their incredible adventures in the mountains. Many of these shows are a rare opportunity to meet and hear from these talented athletes. Doors open at 7pm at the Olympic Village Lodge and shows are free. This event has raised over $170,000 for local non-profits in the North Lake Tahoe community.
